Use the tools of our time and each other to prevent sexual assault, violence and other vulnerable situations.
We—the three founders of Katana—believe that violence and sexual assault is one of the biggest tragedies we face as humans. Like most people, we’ve been impacted by it, whether through personal experience or the experience of close friends. The ugly truth is, it happens all around us. It’s debilitating, it’s pervasive and no one should be subjected to it. Not us, not our daughters, not our friends—no one.
So, in 2016, we came together and decided to do something about it. First, we studied the problem:
Violent Crime occurs every
Aggravated assault occurs every
Domestic Violence occurs every
Sexual Assault occurs every

It became very clear to us that individuals and communities need better solutions to protect themselves and each other.
For many people—particularly women and minority groups—the vulnerability and threat of danger is so commonplace, we accept it as life. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
We want to create tangible change, and that’s why we built a mission-driven company with the goal of preventing violence and sexual assault. Katana is the world’s first personal security system that travels with you on your smartphone. It is the only one that combines 24/7 professional support, a quick trigger alert and a network of your closest friends.
What we want is simple. We want to help as many people as possible protect themselves and be there for each other —
to prevent violence
to avert sexual assault
to work out a plan together that outsmarts danger
We want to create not just communities, but active support, powerful alliances that can respond, whenever and wherever. We can look out for each other and we can be there for each other. We can equip ourselves before a crisis and our friends are right there with us, ready. We welcome you to join our alliance.
